Farmer's Markets any one?

I love going to farmer's markets.  Fresh produce of course but today's farmer's markets often hold many other types of vendors.  Crafters, wine makers, music and so much more can often be found in this lovely local markets.

Green Bay hosts two farmer's markets.  One on Wednesday evenings and one on Saturday mornings.  Each of these markets has it's own 'flavor' but both have the air of Carnival.  Excitement, sights and sounds abound.

Note that a city the size of Green Bay has just two official farmer's markets.  The same is also true for Appleton.  Carnival time that is surrounded by fresh foods, baked goods, music and more.

Each of these markets are teaming with festive air.

Now, turn to Marinette Wisconsin and Menominee Michigan.  Sister cities that reside directly across the Menominee River.  (In fact once upon a time, the U.P. used to belong to Wisconsin)

Each city started out with its own farmers market.  Friday mornings in Marinette and Saturday mornings in Menominee.  Great!

Then location changed for Marinette to Stephenson Island.  It seemed to be a good move to increase visibility from the downtown location behind Merchant Park.  An evening was added and to tell the truth I don't remember which night.  But all was good.

Next thing happened and there was a 'split' in Menominee so that some people moved to a location to the parking lot by the VFW hall.  Some stayed downtown Menominee at the band shell.  Marinette moved to the parking lot at the Library and suddenly another group started back behind Merchant Park.

Low and behold, the Sister Cities now have four farmer's markets.  Three on Friday mornings and one on Saturday mornings.   Makes sense???? Hummm, not to me.

Many people still work during the days and can't make it to any of the Friday farmer's markets.  And what's up with two markets in Marinette at the same time?

Wouldn't be wonderful if the cities got together and one had a farmers market during the week evening hour and one on a Saturday morning?  By pulling together, and marketing together, I believe the end result would be more vendors, more participation and more people would be able to take advantage of those options.

Just saying....
