Hauntings day one!

I grew up in Marinette for the most part.  There were a few years when I was in the middle grades that we lived in Florida and Kentucky before returning.  So, to keep things simple, I simple say I grew up here and graduated from Marinette Sr. High.

I left after graduating high school and went to college before moving to Minnesota.  I returned to Wisconsin but it was some years before I returned to Marinette.  Along the way I was married and divorced and single mom of twins.

In moving back to Marinette, I wanted a house that was large enough to suit my needs.  I wanted to open a bed and breakfast. I was very picky about what I wanted and I looked a numerous homes and houses, never quite finding what I liked.  It was over two years before I found my perfect house.

After all the years of searching and all the houses I of course had to pick a house that had issues.  It took some work to get to closing, but we did get there.  Since this big old house was now mine, I was determined I was going to sleep here that first night

There was no furniture in the house- with the exception of a  shift a robe.  Everything was out.  I slept on the floor in a sleeping bag.  I was not to be deterred.    I brought a coffee pot, coffee and a cup -the important things in life.  (OK I did bring a few other things like a book and towels but  you get the drift.)

I was alone in my big old house.  Built in 1881, it has a lot of history.  I have only scratched the surface even now.  It's a huge Victorian on Riverside- has 5-7 bedrooms (depending on how I configure them) and four bathrooms.  And it was all mine-

So that night after getting ready for bed, I heard the night sounds that one hears in the city.  It had been more than 20 years since I heard the sounds of traffic, street lights glowing in the windows keeping the rooms in a light haze.

In the morning, I walked into my kitchen and my first encounter happened.  The kitchen is a large galley type.  About 15 feet of cupboards and counter tops, upper cupboards line both sides of the room before terminating at the archway that leads into the breakfast nook.  Every door, upper and lower, was wide open.  Not just a little, but wide open.  Every single one.

Along with the doors, every drawer was wide open as well.

No one else in the house.   No dogs or cats.  Nothing.

Three mornings in a row the same thing.  And that was just the beginning.
