Six week update
WOW! Already six weeks into the weight watchers program. I must say that, while there have been struggles, the time has gone quickly.
To date, not every week saw a weight loss. Some weeks were only two tenths of a pound. But as of last night's weigh in, I am officially down 14 + pounds.
Have I 'cheated'? Yes.
Have I always made good choices? No
Have I learned not to make poor choices? Not always. After all, where would be the fun in that?
After the first four weeks, the program encourages you to add movement. Not 'exercise' per say, just getting out and moving more. Whatever that may be. It is different for each person's journey.
For me, now that I'm down in weight and feeling better, I found a place nearby that I could return to taking horseback riding lessons after a hiatus of a decade. (yes riding is movement and I was very happy to see that it burns as much or more calories as walking!)
I've also added walking three days a week for 20 minutes a day. At the moment my target fit points is at 28. It is something that I have only manage to achieve once, so that is my next short term goal. To hit the 28 mark consistently.
I spent some more time playing around with the weight watchers app. One thing kind of surprised me. My weight loss-like most people- has been in fits and starts, with an overall trend down. Some weeks would be as much as four plus pounds with other weeks barely moving the needle. On the app, it tracks the average weight loss over the course of time, per week.
The specialist all say that an average weight loss of one to two pounds per week is the target area we should strive for.
My average weight loss has been 2.3 pounds per week. Right in that target area.
Yes, this has been the easiest lifestyle change I have worked on. It isn't a diet. It is a way of life. Once I got that, the rest has been coming easier.
I may, just may, make my own short term goal of 20 pounds by Sept. 7. Why that date in particular? I'm going on vacation.
